These new Silverface Customs are flyin' off the shelves. Anyone swapped out a speaker in a Princeton yet? I'm reading they start to break up at 4 or so. A touch more efficient speaker could get that to 5 or so, I would think. I'm getting an itchy trigger finger on one of these. I like the idea of a Bassman tone stack, and they look pretty cool. Brings back some memories of a good old Twin I once had.

Pretty crafty on the marketing side of Fender. That is to say,....... targeting my bank acct!

The options are literally endless. For a more efficient speaker you might try something from Kendrick, WGS, or Eminence. Anything with an SPL of 99dB or higher should yield louder cleans. For the classic alnico vibe, take a look at Celestion's Vintage Gold Ten, the Weber 10A125S, or a hemp-cone Tone Tubby. These are slightly less efficient but still louder than the OEM driver used in the new SFPR.

I have two Jupiter Condenser LC 10's that I had in a 210-65 for a bit that should work well. Great speakers. I know Tone Tubby alnico's are a tad dark at first. Don't know about the low watt TT's alnico's. I have a 66' C12NA I could stuff in there. Could get spendy finding out, but I guess someone has to write a review/clip. It'll be awhile as break in takes time and I haven't even ordered the amp yet. Just figured someone might have tried something already. I'd like to make that NFB variable also. It may never end!

I think a vintage C12NA would be a great sonic fit but perhaps not for your purposes since its SPL is only around 94dB. I would build an all-new baffle board for it though rather than irreversibly modify the original.

I'm with Arjay. Let the OEM speaker break in and see if it grows on you. Beyond that, remember the Celestions only use four mounting bolts.
