swap out the tubes for some new ones. damn, that's some severe tube rattle. if you get some new tubes try jj 12ax7 or some g.t. 12ax7c (some will argue but this tube sounds great, nice overdriven sound and a good midrange).a lot of tube stores will help you get something that fits your playing style, don't be afraid to email them and ask some questions. sorry about the problem with your amp but it is fixable (is that a real word).

Most any tube in V1 will produce sound when hitting it with anything, that is perfectly normal, V1 is usually the most sensitive position. In fact, all tubes are microphonic to a certain extent, that's how they work. I am not an advocate of using any tool to whack the tubes, I use a finger, it's not like your finger will be there long enough to get burned, but be careful, the output tubes get very hot and are hot enough to burn you. But, your previous thread indicates to me that one of your output tubes is the culprit. output tubes should be replaced as a pair, and most reputable shops will send you a pair if you contact them, for an amp that you just bought.

Oh ok, good to know that tapping the V1 tube and hearing it through the speaker isn't a sign of a microphonic tube.

I'm guessing that tapping the case shouldn't produce that "ringing" sound? Probably should only produce a "thud" if anything?

Out of interest -- what makes you think it's an output tube? When I tap the output tubes I can't get it to make that ringing sound.

Put some new tubes in it . I bought a Blues junior III ltd edition tweed about a year ago . I was very pleased with it , for less than a month. Then one of the tubes went microphonic in it , only noticeable when playing certain notes , you could tap on that tube with a pencil and create sounds that indicated a bad tube . An easy fix , happy now and still in love with that amp !

Both should sound the same, dull. Just an educated guess though.
