Got one, and turned it back after one day, because it had some veeery loud "shshshshsh" sound, soon after swich on the Standby swich.

And all knobs were on "0", guitar unplugged.

I suppose that noise would "disappear" on stage or at high volume, but in my small room it was big issue for me.

I had the Bugera v22 amp with triode and pentode options, and it was dead quiet, so maybe I've just got bad luck with this one SS22.

ON MY REVERB HUM ISSUE.... a couple of things...

1) it seems to get better and worse depending on the day, and it's never "bad"... never audible at loud home volumes, let alone gigging levels.
2) I did disassemble the bag, and found the plastic clip that is supposed to apparently hold the wires... somewhere... had come loose, and the wires were criss-crossing each other inside the bag... I fixed that, don't know if it made any difference.
3) Also, the reverb depth seems (I'm not 100% sure) like it changes from day to day. I swear I wasn't able to get to surf territory before, even on 10, and I still can't now, but... it seems I can get closer...? IDK...

I have ordered a MOD pan, after watching a YT shootout of the MOD vs the Accu, and preferred the MOD, and I'm going to replace the cables with better ones, AND orient the pan so they exit out of the bag on the OPPOSITE side of the cabinet from the power transformer... which is the OPPOSITE of where it is now (stock cables not long enuff to reach)

ALSO- I'm starting to think this is a design flaw. After examining my PRRI, and seeing it's reverb cables enter the chassis on the opposite side of the cab as the PT, where on the SS22 they enter a few INCHES from the PT.... I have a feeling that's the culprit.

That's a possibility. All vintage reverb-equipped Fender combos rout the send and receive cables on the side of the cab opposite the power tranny.

And I'll ROUTE them that way as well, but since they enter the chassis only a few inches from the PT, I have a feeling my effort will prove unsuccessful. As I said, for a GIGGING amp, it's not a big deal at all... not noticeable.... it's just in the quiet of your guitar room, playing alone, at low volumes... annoying. They stuffed so much sh1t into that chassis, I guess they needed to locate the reverb in/out where they did due to logistics...

Use shielded cables of the best quality you can afford, that may help.

Hi,
I've been reading a lot of bad comments about the SS22 (construction quality, bad circuits, loosen cables, etc). The thing is that I've tried one and I loved the sound so much that I really want to get one.
I'm not from the U.S, therefore I don't have the opportunity to buy it new as my country doesn't sell it.
My question is, do you know what's the date that Fender fixed all the reported problems? I'm asking you this cuz I have a friend that is able to bring me one from the U.S. but I won't be able to replace it if it's bad, do you know what I mean?

Thanks in advance!!!

Anyone? I'm running out of time, I have a friend (in the USA) that is traveling to my country in a few days from now, and he will be buying the SS22 for me but I really need your help on this one.
Which is the one with the known problems solved? Year, month?

I've got that reverb hum too on my 68 CDR.
My luck with these amps hasn't been good.
I'm on my 3rd defective 68 CDR right now all within i 3 weeks.
To the point at hand, the first one was quiet no hum.
The second one has hum on the reverb even at 0 and got louder as I turned up the verb.
This 3rd on also has the same verb hum and it's a bit louder than the 2nd amp.
Honestly though it hasn't been a problem even at low volumes at home.
It's there when everything is quiet in the house so I notice it, but once I start playing I don't notice it at all.
Sucks that it's there cause it shouldn't be, but the scratchy volume pots are MUCH MUCH more irritating than the verb hum.

I guess there's just something inherent in the basic 22 watt Fender amp design so that it rears it's head on too many amps.
But since it doesn't happen on all of these 22 watts amps then it's likely that it's either a construction flaw when building, or there are some very loose component tolerances on the parts used.
We shouldn't have to be dancing around with trying this and that to fix new amps.
But then there it is. Some people may call it having "character". I'll call it a
"character flaw". :)

I don't think anyone can answer that question accurately... maybe not even Fender.

I'm trying to get that Fender clean channel sound, but I need something small like the SS22, do you have any other recommendations?

For the "classic" Fender sounds most people think of when they hear "classic Fender", 65.

Is it safe to buy a 65RI second handed? I know that every used item probably has some mods, but my question intentds to focus on the Supersonic 22 problems. Are the 65's RI having similar problems as the SS22?

I found some repair capacitor kits on ebay for the 65RI, it seems that Fender is not building quality amps anymore
