Picked her up today!

First off,
NO rattles. Checked all the screws anyhow.
NO discolorized areas - I really looked and looked.
NO noisy tubes noticed so far...
NO hissing or loud humming. Slight background noise but no more than my 69 Bassman.

YES there is trem tick that is not noticeable when playing (hardly use it anyhow.) It would be noticeable when recording most likely.

Beautiful Reverb although not as lush as that in my TRRI. I kind of expected that but I still need to shower and get the salt spray off of me.

The Custom channel is darker for sure than the Vintage (Normal) channel. Yes, it does break up a little earlier than the normal channel.

Once the honeymoon is over and the speaker is broken in, I can give a more detailed review and try to get some photos of the guts, examine the cab material, etc... I didn't dime it today, I like my neighborhood. (actually I did but the volume on the guitar was way down.) So far today, I've only used the Standard Strat with it. Later on I'll get to the Am. Special Strat, the Jags, and the LP. The HRDlx III is up for sale or trade  Eventually, I'll take care of that trem, and treat her to a nice pair of legs. 8)

My back friggin' loves it!

clean head room decent with humbuckers? hows the cleans to the HRDX? my BLDX stays clean till 3to 4 with hums. I like the 40 watts though with Bogner pedals. Looks sweet!

Congrats! Thanks for the run down on it too.

Keep us up to date as you get it broke in so we can get a feel for it's reliability. It sure is a looker!

HRDlx III is not as clean as the 65 Reissue or the 68 Custom (as far as I was able to test today.) To my ears at least, the Hot Rod is not really what us old timers know as "Fender Clean." (yeah, I know) It does have a cool reverb but they ruined that by not putting it on the foot switch. (HRDlx) Does the HRDlx have more headroom? Yes. It's also twice the power...

I haven't tried to A/B the HRDlx and 68 Custom. They are completely different animals. They are in different rooms here in my zoo. The Hot Rod is in the 6L6 room and the Custom Deluxe is in the 6V6 room.

If I were forced to give one up? Wave bye bye to the HRDlx. If I need power, I have the TRRI. I also have a '69 Bassman for something in between.

As I said, I haven't plugged in the LP today and probably won't until the weekend. And, whatever I hear will change over time until the speaker is broken in.

WTF did you do......sail a skiff all the way from Ensenada past Baja, through the Panama Canal, then skirt around the Florida keys with the amp strapped to the foredeck?

Thanks T2. It seems that all the new product "haters" are the ones who usually post reviews. I'm expecting to see negatives on the Coronado and Starcasters as well. Just because...

But this shows me that Fender does pay attention to the forum and listens to what we ask for.

One thing I think most people wanted was to get rid of the "bright cap" without voiding their warranty. As far as I can tell, it is gone. I'll know better once I open her up. But the Fender rep in the Sweetwater video said it was gone. I think they have made the first channel more usable now. There are those who LOVE the drip edge. Now they have that option (with a little bit of grit.)

In my opinion, they could have just made the Princeton with the drip edge and not gone for earlier breakup. I think they break up soon enough. But that's just me.

Let's face it guys and girls, there is a new generation out there.

I'd rather the Guinness people find me. And they should bring a case or two with them. Thirsty after that trip.

The Twin is and always has been clean to 10 and beyond. There's a picture of a Fender Twin Reverb next to the word "clean" in the dictionary.
