I accidentally walked into "The deal of a lifetime" on an older blonde Super Sonic 60. I didn't even haggle with the guy, after driving 90 miles to get to his house. Showroom condition, but a Mesa cover and no footswitch. I couldn't care less about the cover, but I have to have a footswitch.

Will any Fender three button 1/4" jack Fender footswitch work? What if I use my HR Deluxe two button switch for a week? Will a four button 1/4" switch also work? I'm not worried about the wording on the buttons, I can fix that or ignore it, I just want the functions.

I'm technical by nature and a quick study, so if anyone has a link to a primer on the topic of "Fender footswitches", I would be forever grateful.

On another note: I've played many amps over the last few decades, but this is the best amp I've ever played through. Tried a dozen different tones, never had to keep tweaking to find the "sweet spot", every position was sweet, just different. I love my HR Deluxe, but this just blows it away in tone and usability.

How bizarre, I just came to this forum for the first time to ask a very similar question.

The Supersonic 22 uses a 4 button footswitch -- I'd like to know what would happen if I used a 1 or 2 button.

I think the Sonic 22 uses a special 7 pin DIN footswitch that is incompatible with most everything else, where the Sonic 60 uses the 1/4" guitar jack switch (mono) that is similar to most other Fenders. My guess is that the 22 uses one wire per function, like all footswitches used to use (easy to understand how they work). I"m not sure how they new ones work using one send wire for 2 or 3 buttons, I just haven't looked inside to figure it out. I think that means none of the 1/4" footswitches will work with the 22, not without some hacking, but I'm not sure.

I ended up finding one brand new, in the wrapper, from guy who left the music biz. On ebay. Like my older SS60, it even had the old logo, so it matches perfectly. (and yes, the new logo is way cooler than the old) Best of all, he sold it and a brand new cable for $40, shipping included, so I just snagged it up.

If you know exactly what you are looking for and have lots of patience, you can find a good deal there. Unfortunately, I looked and didn't see a single footswitch for an SS22 :/

If you have an original model SS60, I highly recommend taking it to a competent amp tech and having them modify it to the specs of the 2009 "revised model". It only involves replacing a few capacitors and resistors, and it fixes the lack of bass in the Vibrolux and Burn channels that was in the original design. I had this done on my 2006 SS60 and it made a huge difference in tone, less ice pick highs and more bottom end.

The modern SuperSonic Range use a 7-Pin DIN Plug/cable which runs to the Footswitch. The switches on the footswitch are latching type (press once to latch on, press again to latch off). This means that you cannot use the stereo/mono jack footswitches from Fender found on the new Solid State Amps. However you can be selective about which footswitch you need to use if you find a makeshift footswitch.

For my pedal board I did not want the bigger Fender FSW so I found an old marshall FSW and bought a 7-pin Din, then used the SS circuit diagram to wire the two footswitches to EFX_LOOP and BURN, and used added toggles for REVERB and BASSMAN.
