I'm picking up a used one of these with a dead tremolo...just over $500.
I have two questions.
First...any thoughts concerning what might be the issue with the trem? Any common problems? Any idea what I might need to spend to fix it...if I do fix it. I don't use tremolo very often on the DRRI...didn't with the SRRI...not anticipating using it on this amp either. Just curious.
Second...what casters do like? Again...just curious before the trip to Home Depot.
Thanks all.

Try dropping a new or known-good 12AX7 into the V5 socket (that's the tube responsible for the trem operation). If that doesn't cure the symptom then it's possible the opto-isolator is shot -- about a $20 part on Ebay.

You're better off installing a set of removable casters -- the Ernie Ball set runs about $25 on Ebay. They require a ½" boring bit for installation since the socket requires a hole all the way through the bottom of the cabinet at each corner. It's best to disassemble the amp (including removal of the speakers and reverb tank) then flip the cab upside down when drilling. Be sure to position the sockets in such a way that you're not drilling that ½" hole through the front or rear interior cleats.

Anytime. I installed casters on my TRRI shortly after I bought it in 2001 -- never regretted it once since the amp is such a mutha to move and load.
