I have a hot rod deville 410. I started losing volume on both channels suddenly. I thought it was a bad cable on my effects loop,so I put the amp on standby and switched the cable. When I took the amp off standby I got no sound at all, but everything still lights up and powers on. When I plug the guitar straight into the pre amp I don't get any sound either. Do you think I need to replace the power tubes? The amp is about 8 years old and I don't believe the tubes have ever been changed.

Check your speaker cable to ensure it's properly seated in the output jack on the bottom of the chassis.

Plug your guitar directly into the "Power Amp In", and this will at least isolate the output section of the amp. Of course, always verify the instrument cable and guitar with another amp.

gmitche8, welcome to the Forum! :D

Are all the tubes (12AX7 and 6L6GC) lighting up? Also, try cleaning the tube pins and sockets with a little contact cleaner. Work the solution into the surfaces by removing and inserting the tubes a couple of times.

I like CAIG DeOxit GN5.

Yep those are all the tubes, and they are all lit. I will try cleaning the pins and sockets. Thanks!

I just tried cleaning the pins and sockets a few times and I still have no sound, but they are all still lit up.

Bad phase inverter, bad power tubes, or bad output transformer. Start by replacing V3 with a known good tube. Just because you can see the heaters glowing doesn't mean a tube is working.

I changed the power tubes and the phase invertor and I still don't get any sound.

Are you still plugging into the power amp input? If so, you may have a bad output transformer at worse or a faulty connection somewhere in the power amp signal chain or power supply. Do you have the tools and knowledge to check power supply voltages to the various tubes? If not, you should take the amp to a good amp tech as the amp contains DC voltages up to 450 volts or more.

That would be the next thing to check. See if any of the high voltage to the tubes is missing.

I'd check and re-seat all of the ribbon connectors.
