Hi guys.

So got new blues junior other day.

Suprise suprise its hissing and spluttering..

Its weird though.. Because when i mover nearer amp it stops. I return to my chair and it starts. So it depends where my guitar is. Its worse in position 1,3,5.. When its out of phase 2,4 its not as bad.. If i run distortion through it, its much worse.

Ive tested all pedals leads etc & its not them.

I know a great amp guy..might take it to him, pointless taking it to shop because fender will replace the cheap Chinese parts with cheap Chinese parts..

Fender should be ashamed of themselves. I was stupid buying it really.. For £485 i was silly thinking fender would make a half decent amp for this price.

Any amp gurus got any ideas what this is?

Try power ON the amp with NOTHING PLUG on it ; Hiss or not ?

No hiss ; Check your gear it is not the amp.

Hiss ; any neon , halogen lamp in your room ? shut up light , electrical motor running , ? or try an other room where the wall outlet is an another circuit breaker.

Hiss ; but room ok ; return amp on waranty .

Good luck.

If it's new, send it back. I'd try a bunch of amps too. Jet City makes a sweet 20 watter that IMO is way better sounding than the Blues Jr. Sorry guys, just my opinion. Mike Soldano designed these amps and has a hand in the company. Quality gear for little coin. I a fan of VHT too.

Omg its my laptop!!

Must be the wireless signal.. Hence, when i move inbetween laptop & amp it stops...

Ill move amp into different position tomorrow, see if it sorts it.

I sent fender a email earlier saying they should be disgusted with themselves for using cheap components.. My bad... :-)

But you are right , they use cheap components like every mass production company

+1

And you'll find those same cheap components in the premium-priced amps -- even those that are hand-wired.

My high power wireless router causes noise in all of my amps. I have to use tube shields on two of them (both hand built by me NOT using cheap components) and I had to move the router as far away from my amps as possible.

Had the same issue here until I built a new music room on the opposite end of my house. And of course I always wear my tin-foil hat......

Tin-foil hats are useless. The new satellites are much more powerful. 8)

In a previous band my amp would start making buzzing noises at practice every so often; it was someone's cell phone affecting it!

All electro-mechanical or electro-magnetic devices generate an RF field, sometimes even when seemingly switched off.

A tube amp is like an antenna , good or cheap component is another story , but the way you built it help or not . By hand do not mean it is better, you know how , yes.

Electro magnetics fields around the amp could make noise.

More correctly, it is the guitar pickup that functions as an antenna. The guitar amp then acts like a conventional superheterodyne receiver with the pre-amp mimicking the detector, IF stage, and mixer which is then fed to a conventional AF stage and amplified into an audible signal.

Nope, actually in my case it was the preamp tubes themselves. Without tube shields, RFI. With tube shields, no RFI.
