Ideally, you need an 8-ohm enclosure.

That could be any number of differing configurations so long as the total system impedance is correct.

Two 16-ohm 12's wired in parallel works.

Four 8-ohm 10's wired in series-parallel will also get the job done.

A single 8-ohm 15 is a very tasty option.

Many choices......

So, in layman's terms you're saying go with a Mustang V?

I would happily "go" in a 1971 Mach 1 Mustang (Acapulco Blue please).

As for a "Mustang V", PFFFFFFFFFFFT!

What's your budget? There are many cabs out there that probably sound better than a Mustang cab. But without knowing how much you are willing to spend makes it impossible to make a meaningful recommendation.

In that case, don't saddle a real nice amp head with a piece of crap speaker cab.

I wasn't serious. I just saw that head today, didn't see any threads about it on the first page or look for any. I was mainly poking around to see if anyone has heard/used this amp.

But mostly confused about what Fender's strategy is by releasing this now with their current selection of cabs. It's very confusing for a Fender fan boy.

I think you'll find the Supersonic 60 2 x 12 enclosure to be a nice sonic fit to the Deluxe Reverb head. It's offered in matching blackface cosmetics, with a pair of Celestion V30's, and the total system impedance is optimal for the amp.

Here you go. Decide the size, number of speakers, and layout you want.

I'm working my way through reading your BDRI thread. Very good read so far. I don't know if you mention it anywhere since I've only been through a few pages and the links you posted. But you said you wanted to learn more about amps so you researched. Where did you start? I've thought about getting that book reading that book called "How to Hot Rod your Fender Amp" by Falla & Johnson. Did you read that?

I've been waiting and waiting to buy a good amp b/c I don't know jack about them. I'd like to know what the hell people are talking about here. And make a good decision when I do buy.

I've been back and forth b/w a TRRI, Orange, whatever Jeff Beck is using, and now leaning Deluxe Reverb RI. But, now you put the idea of the BDRI in my head. Damn you.

Clicked the link after I posted. Very cool that you customized the search for this amp head. I usually just browse by brands I would buy. Had absolutely no clue about matching impedance or filtering that specific. Thank you.

Oh, and I have a degree in electrical engineering received back in the day when tubes were still part of the curriculum.

Yeah, I think that degree might be a little helpful. Thanks for the library link. I bookmarked your collection and will start reading. The math stuff shouldn't be a problem as long as the formula is given.

That is where my math library HP Solve comes in handy
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000CAQ0C/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie

I've skimmed through the Hot Rod Book. But didn't think it was helpful b/c it didn't seem to apply to many of the reissues because of the new circuit board or something. And at the time, I couldn't imagine paying more for vintage.

I just read that apparently a good amp is the most important piece of gear - more important than the guitar.

I saw a raggedy old vintage Super Reverb for sale that I could afford. And it's been for sale since 2011. I wrote down all of the info/serial numbers I could find just in case. After doing some reading, if I'm convinced, I may just go pick up that hidden vintage gem.
