Hello Everyone, This is my first post, and I hope I can get help here.
I have this EVH 5150 III amp for over 2 years now and loving it. Its still working great, nothing wrong with the sounds. The only problem is, about a year ago I turn my amp on in my studio, the channel light default to Blue channel or channel 2. Usually it default to channel 1(green). Ever since that day, I can only switch from channel (from 1 to 2, from 1 to 3) and (from 3 to 2, from 3 to 1) and from channel 2 to 3 but I can't switch from channel 2 to 1. Since the sound is perfectly ok, I didn't bother look into it. But now I've started to use this amp live more and its hard not to be able to switch from channel 2 to 1. Meaning in order for me to switch back to clean channel (1) if i'm in channel (2), I have to switch to channel 3 then back to channel 1. Please help me. thank you very much.

Hi sarkyguitarstudio,

Any difference with foot switch unplugged, using the channel switching buttons on the amp?

I have the same amp and the only issue/problems I've had with it relate to crap solder joints. I've found one cold solder and one pad for a fuse that wasn't even soldered at all.

I'd pull the chassis and check wiring related to switching. The schematics are available online for free.

Good idea smitkis, solder joints would be a good place to start. The switching circuit for the channels and effects seems a bit overly complicated, and would take some time to sort.

Do you have a meter, can you follow schematics? Time to go through the switching circuit, or get the amp to someone that can.
