Another update...Guitar Center replaced the bad unit and I am going to give it a try. :D If not, I will have to keep moving those two marshall stacks - my back is killin' me. Hopefully, just a fluke amp.

I share your thoughts, but perhaps I am cynical. One cannot compare a $299.00 practice amp to a $4,200.00 and have any great expectations. I can deal with the sound quality, or lack thereof for the purposes of parctice and saving wear and tear on my equipment and back. At this juncture my only requirement is that the Champion 100 stays in one piece. LOL

it's funny...

I had an early 60's brown Princeton amp that I sold a few years ago. in the 40 plus years I owned it, it never had to be serviced. the new owner is thrilled with it.

around 1968 I got a new amp- a Baldwin 2x12 supersound- 45 solid state watts if I recall correctly. the only issue I had was a blown out speaker when I dimed the amp during one our "acid rock" practice sessions. sold that amp as well, and am down to my peavey bandit. a new tube amp is in my future. can't wait for sweetwater gearfest this year. I will be trying out quite a few amps to make my decision.

You'd be better off searching for one of those if trouble-free service for several decades and return on investment is your goal.

I've helped more people repair their amps in the last year while merely sitting at my keyboard than you'll ever own.

Happy trails, cupcake.

I'm sure that Fender.com is glad to have you on your self-appointed free repair advice mission, while you use their forum to bash all of their new products.

+1,...I agree,Wayne2!

Just think about how 'great' those new products would be if it weren't for me and others like me who shame a company to live up to traditions that the founder of said company established.

Get on your bootlicking knees and be Waste2's disciple.

Well, well, well, excuse me!   Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Leo Fender say 'Innovate,...not emulate"? I believe he did! So,...having said that,...why do you keep coming on this board and constantly bash the much newer Fender gear? I often wonder,Arjay,...why you choose to continue doing that!  Like it or not,Wayne2 is right! :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: It amazes me that Fender hasn't banned you from the site for bashing their new products and appointing yourself to be a "repair expert" so to speak. Just sayin!

Okay.

You're wrong.

Leo Fender was dead and buried a full decade before some marketing hypester who couldn't master the intricadies of a minor 7th barre chord or explain why loudspeakers and square waves in the LF spectrum don't get along dreamed up that lameass slogan.

Perhaps he's a relative of yours......

I left this forum months ago. Just checked in today to see if I had any PMs and found this.

IMO, there would be fewer arguments around here if it were a safe place to discuss Fender's line of modern guitar amplifiers. There needs to be somewhere fans can talk about Champions, Vaporizers, Mustangs, SCX2s, etc. without being told we're looking at garbage. Not all of us are interested in buying a lifetime investment piece. For the majority of players, an amp from one of Fender's budget lines will work out just fine.

However, it seems I am in a minority here (or a silent majority), so I've moved on. Other forums have worked out much better for my purposes.
