We'll have to update his status from "gomer" to "nob".

Ok... see the brown-black-green-gold resistor? This one = 1 meg-ohm. See the blue-gray-orange-gold ones (68k-ohm) on the board? Compare this to the schematic's layout:

BMW
Thank you for the old school schematic and layout! Ok, I see the 1M connecting from ground to the sleeve on one side of the resistor and the other is connected through the resister to the tip. My question is, is it then connecting to the sleeve of channel 1?? If so then as in my picture I did do it right.. Cool!! Guess I should not doubt myself and read things as they are and not make it harder than it is..

Thanks again!!

Mike

When you pass "Cabinetry 101" you'll be a caveman (woodworking is so easy that any neanderthal in AIT can do it).

I tried to let the guy at Mojotone know about the error we found in their diagram on the power caps. His response was that there is no differance other than the ground. I tell ya, I wired the power caps the Mojotone way and it clearly did not work.. Then I wired it the Weber way and suddenly things work.. How is this the same?? Perhaps he is not one to take constructive criticism...

I'm sorry to say this, but the error was on your part. You attempted to follow an incomplete wiring diagram as provided by Mojotone. The Weber wiring diagram, as far as the power supply caps are concerned, is no better. However, BOTH the Mojotone and Weber schematics are correct, although I feel the Weber is easier to follow. When you are building an amp, you need to pay primary attention to the schematic diagram. That shows how all the components are connected. The wiring diagram shows the physical location of each component, but does not always do a good job of showing the connections. Even the original Fender wiring diagram that BMW provided does not clearly show how the power supply caps are connected. if you are going to continue building amps, you MUST learn how to read a schematic diagrams. Most of us here can probably do that with our eyes closed.
