Can I use the send on the effects loop on a SS 22, Deluxe VM or a Blues Deluxe Reissue to connect to a PA mixer board instead of using a mic? Never tried it and don't want to kill anything.

I admit don't know how strong the sent signal is from the fx loop. There are some pretty knowlegebale amp gurus here who may know more about that. Each channel on your mixing console should have some kind of pad button, usually in the neighborhood of 15dB but I've seen some that reduced the signal by as much as 30dB. There could also be some kind of attenuator pot other than the main mixing slider, usually found near the top of the channel's controls. I suggest you first try to determine the strength of the sent signal and compare with a typical mic signal and if it is high then use the pad and/or roll off the signal strength on the attenuator to compensate.

In the owners manual of the Blues Deluxe Reissue it says

(3) Recording or Reinforcement - Connect PREAMP
OUT to the input of sound equipment

What exactly do they mean, can you connect it to a mixer or not.

Looks like you can.
They say you can, anyway.

Been doing this for yrs. Had too many bad experiences with sound guys & mic placement.

Amp Preamp Out > DI Box (with "cabinet simulator" -takes edge off) > Mixer

Use HRDeville, SS60, BJr.

For amps with spkr out ONLY (BJr) config is (Amp Spkr Out 1/4> DI box In 1/4> DI Box through Out 1/4 > Amp Spkr out 1/4) / DI box XLR > Mixer

DI boxes I use: H&K Red Box Pro, Palmer PDI-109.

CAUTION-Always have on-board spkrs connected via DI box. You could overload amp without on-board spkrs connected.

Hopefully, you will have a decent monitor system to hear your tone or use your amp as your guitar monitor.

Without some kind of cabinet simulator it will sound horrible.
I get a lot of my drive from the power tubes so I wouldn't do this, BUT I have used a Beahinger direct box that sits between the speaker output and the speaker (it does speaker simulation) to avoid Mic placement inconsistencies.

I've done it with the BDRI with success. Just start out with the channel volume near zero on the mixer and work up to taste. I now prefer using a Sennheiser e609 cab/amp mic. on all my amps. Simple, easy, essentially no other sound nor noise picked up, and best replicates the sound of the amp/cab. JMO
