I am thinking about a super reverb reissue & there aren't any in my area. I am wondering at what volume # does it breakup or start to sound sweet? Is it overkill for home use with a large basement? I like the sound of multiple amps at once. Currently I am running a drri & a blues Jr. via aby petal.

In the confines of a basement, the SRRI's volume will reach and exceed the threshold of pain long before the amp begins to break up.

Thanks Arjay! You may have saved my marriage as well as hearing.
Maybe I will Trade my blues jr for another DRRI instead & aby 2 drris.
I play my current drri at vol.5-6 with an awesome breakup with the jjs & c.Rex in it

I've often paired amps for stage use via a Radial Big Shot A/B/Y router.

For larger venues and outdoor deployments, a '64 Vibroverb and a '64 Pro Amp.

For smaller saloons (five stools or less), a pair of vintage Deluxe Reverbs.

I actually located a used SRRI this afternoon at a mom & pop music store in my area. At 4 it was loud but not insane like a twin. The sound was powerfull & full. Everything in the store vibrated at this volume. It had way more bottom end than I was anticipating from the 10" speakers. I really couldn't crank it past 4 but it sounded pretty good. I wonder if a pair of tung-sols 6L6s, rectifier & other tube changes with higher bias would lower the headroom a bit?

It is what it is.

If you need an amp with less potential for causing unanticipated seismic activity, find yourself a vintage Vibrolux Reverb......same tube array, smaller iron, less output, and half the speaker array of a Super Reverb. They break up substantially earlier and might spare the first ten rows of an audience from going 'deef'.

The Vibrolux is a great choice. I had a 66 BF for over 20 years till some shitbag stole it. Great amp, wish I still had it. Breaks up nicely before the walls come down. A 5e3 clone would also do the trick and are really affordable. I built the Tube Depot's version which is a little closer to 18 watts and is very gigable especially with a 2x12 setup, but you can get them already built for you by many companies. Beautiful breakup with tons of versatility. I like jumpering the channels. The interaction between the channels is amazing.

Tungsol STR-6L6GC will give you more headroom. Maybe, putting a 5U4GB versus a 5AR4 will compress the tone a bit. If you have a pair of healthy 6V6GT (like the JJ 6V6S) --- you can try these. Just re-bias the amp to about 18-20mA per tube.
