I now own a 65 TRRI and love it. Def a keeper for me for the distant future. Smashes the SS twin pieces sound and tone wise. JMHO.

+1

I've owned a '78 Twin Reverb for 35 years and a '65 TRRI since 2001. Both have been absolutely trouble-free and virtually bullet-proof.

I don't know anybody with a SS (of any persuasion) who didn't have to monkey with the sonofabitch to make it work properly.

In defence of ss22s -

My Super-sonic 22 has none of the issues so often mentioned here - no hiss, no popping changing channels, no feedback with high reverb, no erratic vol control, etc.

Just an awesome, versatile, compact great sounding amp IMO. And so easy to get great sounds out of it. Luv it!

I can only guess, as has been suggested, that some SS amps come out with bad valves/components, but they sure as hell ain't bad amps per se.

" SS amps come out with bad valves. "

Bad "valves" as in tubes? Or burnt valves, as in cylinder heads? :D

Prolly not tubes, as most solid state amps don't have these.

I guess you don't know what you are talking about since you think SS is solid state in this topic! SS is Super Sonic and is all tube. Did you jump in at the end uninformed of the subject? It helps if you read from the start and know the topic being discussed.

I had a SuperSonic 22 and wound up selling it shortly thereafter due to lots of hiss and "a raspy bees in a can" od channel. I even re-tubed it with a full set of JJ tubes without any real positive change. Loved the FS capabilities and the EFX loop. Have owned several Twin Reverbs and if it wasn't for the weight of them, I would still have them. Unless, Fender has really stepped up to the plate and truly corrected the hiss, raspiness, and reliability issues with the SuperSonic series, you are 1000% better off with your existing Twin Reverb and a few choice dirt pedals. Just my two cents.

Not impressed with JJs. My SS 60 W has minimal hiss and it records well.

Perhaps, Fender has gotten their QC act together finally. Glad to hear that yours is working well!

You must be new around here.

Not new and I own a SuperSonic 60 W. I know it is not a Solid State.
