Amp: Fender Acoustasonic 150

Gear: Shure SM58, Ibanez AEF30E, Gibson Les Paul 70s Tribute w/minihumbuckers

Issue: Microphone Feedsback at all volume levels but one specific place on the volume knob, slightly before 9 o'clock.

There are tangible "notches" that I can feel when turning up the volume on my amp; six exactly at slightly before 9 o'clock, at 9 o'clock, 11 o'clock, 1 o'clock, slightly before 3 o'clock and maxed a 5 o'clock.

My SM58 Feedsback at all places on the dial except the specific "notch" slightly before 9 o'clock. It feedsback prior to the notch and past the notch.

The feedback elimination doesn't stop the feedback. In fact the feedback elimination isn't even needed at the slightly before 9 o'clock "notch."

I can plug in my daughters low end Wal-Mart Karaoke machine mic through the 1/4 mic line in and crank it without feedback. I'm using the xlr input with my SM58. Obviously I want to use my SM58 and not the Karaoke mic.

The vocals sound excellent through the amp but sometimes I need less volume and other times I need much, much, more.

Any suggestions would be helpful. I'd love to hear from someone with Fender specifically on the notches because I don't see any info on them in the manual.

Thanks!

Andy

Got a handle on it now!

I changed my mic angle... but really the thing is it takes TWO people to set up the amp each and every time. One to perform a mic check and another to train the feedback elimination while you're doing the mic check (since my arms aren't ten feet long).

Dear Fender,

Would you please design and produce a floorboard control unit for this amp? It would be great to be able to use more than one fx/model during a song - especially with the electric settings - I'd really like to start in Blackface (clean) and switch to Tweed (Overdrive) and/or British (Distortion) - but unfortunately I've got to choose one or the other. Also please put the feedback elimination control on this board and at my feet so I can do it on my own without tying up other bandmembers who need to be soundchecking their own gear. Oh - and most importantly - make the board compatable with my Acoustasonic 150 so I don't have buy a new amp! Maybe a firmware update could accomodate this?

Thanks Fender! You guys rock!

Andy
