I have a RocPro 1000 Combo ( 8 ohm) and i want connect a GE-412 ( 4 ohm) external speakerbox . Is that possible ? Fender recommends the GE-112 ( 8 ohm)for a combo.
Means that, i had to mount a extra 4 ohm resistor ?

Hi Gerard.A.W.,

Just disconnect the internal speaker when using the 4 ohm 4x12 cab. Be sure that the internal speaker leads are taped off to prevent them from contacting anything.

It ought to really rip with a quartet of Celestions!

Are you sure ? Disconnect a 8 ohm speaker and then connect a 4 ohm 4x12 cab ?
No danger for the amp?

Positive! The amp is designed to use either an 8 ohm load, internal speaker by itself, or a 4 ohm load, which is what you would have when plugging in an external 8 ohm speaker cab with the internal speaker already connected. The external speaker jack is parallel to the internal speaker, so when you plug in an additional 8 ohm speaker, the amp "sees" 4 ohms. So, if you unplug the internal speaker and plug in an external 4 ohm speaker, the amp still "sees" a 4 ohm load.

I wondered about that, a Fender 4x12 that was 4 ohm? :?

I wasn't sure myself and it's been awhile since I've seen a DT/GE412 box. Then I stumbled upon that pic on a C/L ad the other night.

Thanks Rock Star and Rock Icon for quick respons. In my ProRoc manual is written that a GE-412 is 4 ohm. So, you understand I have lost my way at the moment.
The pic shows 8 ohm.
Another question. I have heard , that to connect cabs you must use a cable that belongs to the cab and NOT an instrumentcable.
Why is that ? Is it that a instrumetcable is too long ?
A jack-plug is a jack-plug , or ?

Instrument cables are not designed or intended to handle the voltage and current levels from the amp's output stage to the speaker load.
