Question for the amp guys...
Are the little input and output transducers inside the reverb tank for a twin replaceable? or is it cost effective to just to buy a new tank? It appears the output is dead.
Thanks

Buy a new tank.

If the amp is a re-issue then it's likely more cost-effective to merely replace the entire tank.

If the amp is a vintage example and keeping it original matters, then have the original tank repaired.

It can be fixed, but way less effort to just replace with a new one.

As long as one is comfortable installing an off-shore replacement.

You know......like those tanks that are failing in brand-new amps.

I am with you on most of the off-shore stuff. In the case of newer Accutronics reverb tanks, I think that the Korean-made are on par with the US-made, and typically the Korean guitars and products are very good. The Lite-Ash Strat, the Pro Tone Series Squiers are both very nice. Of course you can still get a US-made Accutronics for a bit more, or a Hammond for even more.

The type of failures that I often see, are the wires either pulled from the transducer coil, or the wires cut by being pinched between the outer and inner tanks. All courtesy of our good buddies at Brown. :x Back in Leo's day, amps weren't subjected to the mistreatment that they get today.

This is a US Accutronics tank from a US amp, shipped by Brown of course.

Thanks all...I'm one of these guys who just hate to toss something out when it can be fixed. It seems like a waste to toss it out because a small tiny coil has failed.

There's an Ebay vendor who repairs broken vintage reverb tanks (Gibbs and Hammond only). The charge is around forty bucks and their work and their turn-around time is outstanding.

The guys at SEPI know everything there is to know about original reverb tanks... they're probably still the same engineers who were part of the real Accutronics. I've sent two 60s Gibbs tanks to them and they were able to take care of it and ship it back the same week!

You could probably order a US made tank from them...

They worked wonders with the original Gibbs tank in my '68 Deluxe Reverb. There, fixed, and back to me in a week. It doesn't get much better than that.
