I have a new Blues Deluxe. When I took off the back cover I realized the reverb tank was not secured to the cabinet. How should it be mounted? They put one screw on one end through the bag and the cardboard into the cabinet. The other end they used a screw just through the bag which seems to have ripped through by the weight of the tank when they flip it upside down to ship it. The tank is loose inside the bag.

That's it. Two screws to hold the bag in place, tank loose in the bag. If you screw the tank down you will have all kinds of noise due to vibrations.

As a related question, does the magnet on the speaker affect the Reverb? One of my amps has a large 12-inch EVM speaker, and the magnet attracts the tank to the extent that the bag lifts up off the cabinet.

If it doesn't have a power tube in the circuit...I'm not that interested

Yes it most certainly does.......

Firstly, if you let the reverb tank (mild steel) loose, it will smack up against that speaker magnet wih an un-nerving clang, and if amp is on.....oh my.

Secondly, the speaker magnets have a magnetic pull on the reverb springs, and if close enough will begin to induce a squeeling feedback as oscillation occurs.

I noticed that many Fender amps come with a cardboard attached to thin wooden bottom piece that the tank sits on, at the bottom of the amp cab. Then the unit is held down by a strap around the middle of the bag & tank.

Seems that this may help isolate the unit for the vibrations... at least a little.

This was the mounting protocol for the tanks in vintage Fender amps.

I don't think the modern FMIC products use that method.

Nope, you are right Arjay. The Reverb tanks on the modern fender amps sit loosly on a thin piece of cardboard in the black pouch, where the pouch is loosly screwed in to cab by 2 screws on iether end as per OP quiery. There is no WOOD any longer.
