Could someone please explain to me whta the effects loop is for.

It allows you to place your effects after the amp tone stack/dist. instead of running all your effects into the amp first then going through the amp tonestack/dist. Time mod effects (delay, flanger, etc.) should be run through the loop. Gain/tone effects (ovrdrv, wah) should be before loop.

Any signal boost pedal such as overdrive, distortion, etc needs to be ran before the amp (front ending). DO NOT run these pedals in the effects loop.

Basically the "Effects Loop" is a patch point between the preamp & the power section.

I just got a Blues Deluxe, and tried running a Wah, Digitech Hendrix Pedal and AC-3 acoustic pedal in the effects loop. To concur with the previous writers, it didn't work. Didn't distort properly, the Wah couldn't be heard, the AC-3 either couldn't be heard or it squawked. So now that I've revealed myself as a total rube...

It didn't harm the amp, at least not that I can tell at the moment.
