Hey Everyone,

I'm looking to replace my stock Blues Deluxe 12" Eminence Speaker with a Celestion G12H speaker. Now this speaker is a 30 watt speaker and the Blues deluxe is a 40 watt amp. Am I going to run into any issues? I am running the amp at a pretty low volume because I always mic it.

Any Advice would be much appreciated!

Celestion's Vintage 30 would be a more prudent choice.

Eminence Wizard is basically the Celestion G12H speaker. They built it that way. It is a 75 watt speaker too. Wizard is a Red Coat speaker so it has the British voiced thing going on.

So let us break this down. 95 dollar speaker essentially the same voice as a 200 dollar speaker and you get two and a half times more watt headroom to work with the 95 dollar one. I will say no more.

Might want to read the section on speaker selection (page 2) of my thread on mods to the BDRI:

You may want to look at the Eminence Maverick with the built in attenuation for your BDRI. A great sounding speaker that can tame the volume and the volume control sensitivity.

Will it fit?

$130 for a speaker to solve a problem that can be cured by replacing V1 with a 12AY7 or 5751 for less than $40?

$125? That's nothing. I use these in my home theater:

so let me chime in on this...

my new blues deluxe ri is loud. I would like to calm it down a little, so I could turn the amp above 2 and get a nice clean sound without deafening everybody. I would also like to have the gain channel to have a little less distortion, and a little more crunch. I am not an amp tech so I hope this makes sense.

I do have an eminence texas heat speaker sitting around. thought about replacing the fender speaker, but I might just get an empty cab and use it as an extension speaker for a fuller sound.

any recommendation for tube replacements? also, is there an indication on the amp for preamp tubes, such as which one is v1, v2 etc?

still learning all this tube stuff, so thanks all for your help

Looking at the back of the amp, right to left, V1 to V5.

Like I said before, read my thread for everything you've ever wanted to know about the BDRI:
