I have seen a couple topics covering this, but I needed clarification on the specs. I have a PAS pa monitor with a 12" woofer and an accompanying horn. I am not using the monitor at the moment and thought about using it as an extension for the Deville as it is hard to hear over drums at practice. The only problem is that the monitor is rated at an 8 ohm regular impedance. I know that the extension speaker jack is at 8 ohms (according to the owners manual), but it also states in the manual "The external speaker jack must be
used with an 8 ohm speaker enclosure for the Hot
Rod DeVille. When used with the Hot Rod DeVille
212, a 4 ohm speaker enclosure must be used."

This really confused me. Is it safe to use and is it even worth trying because I know there is probably a more simple or complex way to solve this conundrum of the amp being overpowered by the drums.

Why not simply *turn your drummer down*?

This is referring to the 4x10, which is 8 ohm

This is referring to the 2x12 which is 4 ohm.

It is safe to use either an 8-ohm, or a 4-ohm speaker with the 2x12.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

+1 if you can't hear over your drummer with a 60 watt amp, I'd look for a more professional drummer. All you're going to do is damage your hearing like I did and believe me, it's not worth it. On top of that, a PA monitor IMO is a total tone turd when used as a guitar extension speaker. It's made to be a monitor not a guitar amp extension cabinet, hence the name.

If the drummer was truly a professional, he'd dial it back a bit. I've worked with drummers who sounded great even if when we rehearsed with five watt amps. It's called professionalism and technique.
