I've heard Fender made the original amps with the tweed style covering up to around 1960. When did they start making amps with that covering again? I've also heard that Fender has made many more 'modern' tweed amps than it did '40's and '50's tweed amps - any truth to that?

I think I read somewhere that by the end of the 1966 model year (nearly two full years after the acquisition of Fender by CBS), the resultant FMI corporation had sold more amplifiers than the old Fender Electric Instrument Company had from its beginnings in the late '40s until the end of 1964.
