I am looking at a Pro Reverb and would like to get any info/feedback/impressions from anybody familiar with this amp. This is one of the more recent models, manufactured from 2001 - 2003. Here is some info from the seller:

Model/Circuit Number: PR448
Years of Production: 2001 -- 2003
Era: Pro Tube Series
Speaker
Size: 1 x 12
Impedance: 8 ohms
Model: Jensen C12K (Reissue)
Watts: 12.5 watts / 50 watts -- switchable
Tubes
Pre amp: 7 x 12AX7, 1 x12AT7
Power: 2 x 6L6GC
Bias: Fixed, Each Power Tube Individually Adjustable
Rectifier: Solid State
Weight: 75 lbs.

Frankly, the weight has me a little concerned, seems pretty hefty for a 1x12 (it is on casters). Also, any idea why it was only around for a couple of years? The shop offering the amp is quite a drive from my house, so I am just trying to educate myself before committing to a road trip to test drive it.

Yes, "folk" or "folks" means people. It's a term used more in the southern part of the country. I hear that Canadians are good folks too. :)

This amp appeared just about the same time as the combo and head Pro-Sonic series models, which cost roughly the same but had some then-novel features. And just as FMIC discontinued the '63 Vibroverb because the Custom Vibrolux Reverb was undercutting its sales, the Pro Series Pro Reverb became a casualty of similar circumstances. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with it that a speaker change and some careful tube-rolling wouldn't cure. Its chassis architecture is similar in many respects to the Pro Series Super Amp, with speaker configuration being the primary difference. If the price is right (five to six bills) it might be worth taking a drive over to Auburn or down to Sacramento to check it out.

Thanks Arjay, good information as always. Its a bit further down the road in Martinez, but a nice day for a drive. Any idea about the weight? 75 lbs seems like a lot for a 1X12 combo.

Yes It is very heavy if you gigs often for shure . You could need caster . Be carefull , caster hurt amp 's tubes. It is not smooth like if you hold it in your hands.

Fender says is weight is 75 lbs

Frankly, I can't see it weighing that much despite the published spec. A TRRI -- with two C12K's and all of that huge honkin' iron -- tips the scales at around 70 lbs. I'm guessing a more appropriate figure would be about 55 lbs.

Well, I got it :D and here is the pic to prove it

Image

Cost me my Blues Junior plus three and a quarter, which i thought was a good deal. Hats off to Danny at Good Stuff Guitar Shop in Martinez, Ca. Great little indie shop (and I mean little), nice people to deal with.

Thanks Arjay and stratele52, your input helped the decision making process. BTW, listed weight is 75 lbs, digital scale says 67 lbs including cover and 4 button footswitch.

Congrats, it looks like a fine specimen.

When you start to hanker for a speaker swap, consider Celestion's V30 and/or the EV Force 12. Both are excellent drivers for the Pro Reverb platform.

Rawk on!
