Hi. There seems to be no definitive answer anywhere as to if the original blues deluxe amps - although they came with one channel footswitches to switch between normal and gain - can accept a 2 channel switch that will both control drive on/off and reverb on/off.

My research suggests the reissue uses such a 2-channel footswitch with reverb functionality and that the original amp's schematic is very similar although not revealing. Other forums talk about relay methods. One suggests that a Fender dealer recommended this footswitch
http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0994056000

There is just no answer out there though. Not only that but I supported an artist with the most beat up blues deluxe I've ever seen and he has the switch linked to above as can be seen in this video I found https://twitter.com/robinbharaj/status/ ... 0558205952 - yet again could be a BDRI I didn't get a chance to check...

Any experience/knowledge welcomed! :)

Hi sidepartings26,

From viewing the schematic for both, it appears that the original BDlx reverb can not be switched off with a foot-switch, as there is no circuitry present to do so, while the BDRI does have a circuit to switch the reverb off with a foot-switch.

So, if you have an original BDlx, no foot-switch will turn the reverb on or off.

A look at the schematics show that the BDRI switch will not work with the original Blues Deluxe.

Edit: Beat me by 1 second.

Thanks both. I suppose a used holy grail would be about the same price anyway!
