Hi, my effects loop is "leaking" sound. When you connect an empty cable with nothing on the other end into the power amp-in (that is the effect loop return), the sound from the preamp shouldn't be heard, right? Well mine you can hear at a low volume, but enough that I can't use the mute function or the volume pedal function on my TC G-major 2 that's connected in the loop. Can this be easily fixed? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Mannus,

Unfortunately, this seems to be normal operation with these amps. Same thing with my HRDlx and other forum members' similar amps. I suspect cross-talk from the op-amp used for the loop, and I intend to put in chip sockets to experiment with different op-amps to see if any others will have less cross-talk, but haven't tried it yet. I have used my amp as you've described, with an empty plug, but only at lower volume for almost silent recording. I didn't notice the "leaking" until another forum member asked about it and I turned up my volume and noticed sound coming through.

So what you're sayin' is there is no "cure"? :(

I was so hoping it would be as simple as changing a capacitor...

Not a simple/easy cure anyway, at least as far as I can tell. As you noted, with something plugged into the Power Amp In, the signal is disconnected from the preamp, leaving the loop as the only signal path from the preamp to the power amp, and with nothing plugged into the Preamp Out, the only path for the signal from the preamp is through the op-amp, across the two halves somehow. This is what it looks like to me, from viewing the schematic. I have the chip sockets and a few different types of op-amps already, but it hasn't been a priority for me yet as the only thing that I use my loop for is a tuner connected to Preamp out, and my amp sounds great, especially with the new '57 HR Strat, so.......
