Yes, use an "A/B" switch or an "A/B/Y" switch. Plug guitar into the switch, plug the outputs from the switch to the amp inputs.

You'll merely have twice the volume of the same tinnyass sound.

You want "fat"?

Step up to a amp with a larger cabinet and multiple speakers, preferably 12's.

Or swap the stock speaker for the Eminence Cannabis Rex or the Eminence "Screamin Eagle". The difference is really amazing.

    Cheers!

+1 The BJ was built mostly for portability, not fat tone.
The problem is the cabinet is too small to produce a fat sound. The only way to get rid of the boxiness is to get a bigger cabinet with larger speakers. Then you won't need two amps. No amount of mods will completely fix the problem. I run my 74 Champ with a Weber Z Matcher and two 112 cabs. It's seriously fat sounding and I can actually keep up with a good drummer with that setup.

If your handy, you can build your own ABY box from BYOC and it's isolated and totally silent switching.

Hey, thanks for the info on the Weber Z Matcher. Never knew about it. It looks like a great piece of gear to have around. Very well thought out too. The two lines out is so useful for recording or stretching the native tone of an amp with other amplification. Very impressed with that box.

No Problem. That Z Matcher gives me a lot of versatility. It's seriously well made too. I even used it to try my 74 Champ through a 4x12 Marshall cab. Seriously stuff and really loud when the little Champ is pushing all that air. All I had to do was make a phono pl to 1/4" phone plug adapter. I'm thinking about installing a 1/4" jack in the Champ just for convenience. I'll never sell it so I'm not really worried about resale value.

It may be possible to install a phone jack using the same hole that presently mounts the RCA jack without need for enlargement. If so, such a mod would be totally transparent and reversible.

I converted my BJ to a head and play it through a 2X12 WGS loaded cab. Much better sound. Also just ordered this cab: http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/cabin ... nformation and will be loading it with a Swamp Thang and a Wizard. The Eminence claim very high sensitivities, so there should be more volume on tap. I have several low wattage heads that may benefit from the higher speaker efficiencies.

Looks like a nice thought out cabinet.

That's what I'm hoping.

Hope so. It's lead time is 3 to 4 weeks, so I won't get it until month's end. Also hope the workmanship is good?

MoJotone supposedly supplied the cabinet for my Tweed Deluxe clone and it's flawless. The tweed matches perfectly and the grill is nice and tight. really nice job.

A Blues JR can get a lot fatter with the proper speaker and mods.
If you already have them, you can make them much better.
The III version is probably thinner sounding because it has that bright mod from the factory.
You ARE limited by the cab size, but with the changes its plenty fat for me without sounding muddy.
