They have been pumping out tons of cool guitars but there is not many new amps coming out. Anybody hoping for something interesting for this Summer NAMM? I would personally like an overhaul of some of the Vintage Reissue amps. A hand wired '65 Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and Princeton Reverb would be nice. I'm sure they will bring back the Pawn Shop series amps in some kind of way. Right now there seems to be only a limited amount of amps to choose from. Just my opinion.

You could build your own for 1/4 the price that a hand wired reissue would cost.

Not sure where the OP has been - Fender has been releasing handwired amps - you'll notice the prices also match. They're just not releasing the ones you want - or probably at the price you'd be willing to pay.

Hand-wired amps released over the past 2 years:
EC Vibro-Champ
EC Tremolux
EC Twinolux
57 Bandmaster

Plus, they're not going to have their current reissue amps that sell OK plus a hand-wired reissue line of the same amps that may or may not sell well when there's a glut of excellent used pre-CBS amps that have exactly what you're looking for at less than what you'd pay for a new one from Fender.

Don't confuse the Pawn Shop amps with handwired - those are retro looks hiding over low price amps with PCBs, etc. built to the lowest price point. Fun amps, but nothing handwired about them. They also didn't sell that well compared to the rest of the line - Greta's already been discontinued AFAIK, which is a shame - fun little amp with an external cab.

+1 I'd be happy if Fender would build new reliable amps. The PCB's don't bother me. The 5e3 I built is on a PCB, but that PCB is MIL spec, double sided plated through holes and the switches, tube sockets, and transformers are all hand wired by yours truly and I only paid $600 for the kit including the speaker and nice Tweed covered cabinet. I upgraded the speaker and dumped that Italian Jenson Mod for a Weber. That's just personal preference. It's been out on a dozen gigs and so far not a hiccup. That amp is my American Made, Hand-Wired amp for six bills and I run the volume on seven or eight, usually with the channels jumpered, and control the whole thing at the guitar.
All the connections are soldered. Not one single spade connector or ribbon cable in the entire amp!

Build your own stuff! I build my own pedals too!
Can I get an Amen!!!

+1. Economics say build it yourself or buy used.

EC Tweed Tremolux - $2000 retail

My handwired amp, bought used:
65 Tremolux - $650
65 Tremolux cabinet, Mojo grillcloth/baffle and new Weber alnicos - $400

$1050. About half.

I know where I'll be getting my next amp... wish I had the time to build one myself. inspired by folks here who have posted some really incredible builds.

Or they could contract joyo to build them (which they already do, at least the deluxe reverb and a few other amps), double the price and it will still come in cheaper than most boutique amps.......

Sorry to open up that can of worms.

Nothing wrong with boutique amps. When you factor in inflation, Victoria is a pretty sweet deal, same with Dr. Z and Carr. If I was still scratching out a living playing music, I'd own a Victoria. Can't beat a lifetime warranty. Build them right with premium components and you can have a lifetime warranty because you'd probably never use it.

I want to eventually own a Victoria Regal. 15" speaker and the ability to use any power tube in various configuration appeals to me. I think it has reverb and tremelo too. No matter, I have pedals I like if it doesn't. I'll see how lucrative my Summer goes.

Penn Pennalizer amps are another worthy mention.

The EC series are cool but they are for a limited crowd. I really don't care for Eric Clapton.

I'm interested in the '57 Bandmaster...

Also, I never said the Pawn Shop series were hand wired...

The Pawn shop amps have their uses. Although the Greta at two hundred dollars seems like the P.T Barnum's at FMIC were doing a head count. The next Pawn Shop offerings should be true feats of marketing derring-do.

Have you played any of the EC amps? Regardless of whether you like Eric Clapton or not, it's a Fender handwired tweed. I've played the EC Vibrochamp and it's great, definitlely different from a BF Vibrochamp but worthwhile. I wouldn't worry about the EC part, but handwired tweed Fenders is a good thing IMO.

If EC tweeds are a limited crowd, a handwired reissue of an amp they're already selling with a PCB that people like is an even smaller crowd - which is why they won't bother.
