Hey

I already replaced the tubes, but there still is some noise when i play on lower volumes. It's like a really quiet distortion sound that appears especially if i play on lower strings.

I wanna buy this amp from a friend, it's like 8 years old i guess.

Power tube replacement need a bias check / adjust if you want to have long life an better sound with your tube.

Your problem ;

Could be a bad resistor in Phase Inverter circuit .
Bad resistor or / and defective solder in Power Supply

I have just tested another extern speaker and the 'distorted' noise is gone...

So the speaker was defective !

Do many test to be sure . Those amp have more chance to have a defective resistor/ solder than speaker.

I took the speaker and the amp out of the cab to make sure it isnt just the cab itself which resonates, and can hear very well that the 'distortion' kind of sound comes out of the speaker itself. How can i make sure it is the speaker and not a resistor or something else?

edit: i just tested the amp on a speaker from my peavey combo and the noise was gone .. so i can be pretty sure the speaker is $@!&*%?

It look you do a very good test.

Just be sure to wait few hours with the amp on . If the amp have another ptoblem you'll should ear it in the "new " speaker".

No distortion , replace or recone the original speaker.
