has anyone owned or has a FF212r and had problems with it over heating and cutting out???. I have had 3 replacements since 2010 from fender, and all I got back from them that it was uneconomical to repair and sent me a new one, 3 times this has happened whilst gign the amp, NOW 'im told they have discontinued the frontman and say they fail to recognise they had a major flaw in the design (well pissed off), BUT have issued me with the new fender mustang 4 to compensate me, SHOULD I BE HAPPY?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Why would you want to go for yet a 4th FM212? Be happy with the Mustang IV.

never wanted a 4th frontman from fender, I just wanted answers to why I had the same problem 3x, loved the amp and the sound I got from it.

I wonder if your overheating problem was unique to the Frontman 212 series. In my band, the other guitarist, and I both own FM 25R amps, and in 2 years neither one of us have had the slightest issue with either amp. NONE of the owner reviews I've seen at Ultimate Guitar, Harmony Central, Amazon, Guitar Center, etc. have mentioned this issue. That's out of hundreds of owners of Frontman 212R amps.

How did you get to be the lucky one? Also, why is your posting the ONLY place I've seen the suggestion that Fender has any intention to discontinue the Frontman 212R? How would you get official confirmation that this is more than just an idle rumor?

That's unusual for you to go through 3 FM 212R's within the space of 3 years . I own a FM 25R which I installed a Eminence Rajun Cajun speaker and it's held up very well with no issues at all. If Fender gave you a new Mustang IV to compensate you for your problems, don't complain ! That's one helluva amp you got there junior ! Be blessed and enjoy it.

I currently own both and the mustang IV offers a lot more tone. I was using a Boss GT-10 with my 212R and this was pretty good and offered more modeling than the mustang but did not have a tube amp feel or sound.

I'm just curious as to when your frontman overheated, was this during high volume situations or what?

I have the same problem with mine, my first frontman 212r (for guarantee claiming) was replaced by a second one that apparently came with the same manufacture problem. A noisy buzz is caused by resistors when they get overheated.

Is there any solution to the frontman212r?

The overheating issue was what caused the Frontman 65R to be canceled...I burned up two (in a manner of 1 week the first time...and 1 day on the replacement) of them before I moved on to a different amp.

Amazon and Guitar Center are still selling the 212R, but MusiciansFreind no longer offer "new" ones.
So Amazon & Guitar Center MIGHT be trying to get rid of what they have in stock...or the amp has not yet been discontinued.

It is my understanding that Guitar Center and MusiciansFreind are "sister companies", so I am not sure why one would still offer it and the other doesn't unless they HAVE been discontinued, and MusiciansFreind has ran out of stock.

A Yahoo search came up with nothing on the topic.
