Hi Everyone,
I picked up a near mint late 80's early 90's Snakeskin Black Knob Evil Twin about three months ago. It has performed flawlessly up until yesterday when I fired it up and it suddenly lost it's balls. I literally have to dime every knob just to get a weak sound out of it. The clean channel is barely audible, dirt channel is a little louder.
Checked all the usual suspects, guitar cord, input jacks, speaker leads, swapped tubes etc and it's still not right. One thing I did come across was the in the 3 position loop output power slider switch on the back of the amp. If I put it between the detents the amp kind of perks up a bit but I really don't feel that's the issue. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Joe

Sounds like something in the power supply has taken a two-roll dump.

I'd start the troubleshooting there.

Two roll dump! Gotta remember that one. Anyway found the culprit. The V4 socket contacts were corroded. Cleaned it up popped in a fresh 12at and voila! Well, there goes the weekend! Beats yard work though. Thanks for the reply Arj.

Glad your amp is back to operational status.

Rawk on!
