I've had my amp for almost 5yrs and didn't use it regularly. Now sometimes my amp is on for hours but not being played much and I hate turning it on+off. I never understood why it doesn't have a StandBy switch. I see the new model X2 has one. Is it possible to wire one in?

Sure. Just splice it betwen D13 and the B+ connection.

I assume you know how to work on printed circuit board amps and have all the proper tools. You'll have to take the amp apart and drill a hole to mount the switch too.

Thanks for that info and the schematic. I've worked on quite a few circuit boards over the years. Drilling holes in the cabinet for the switch in no big deal. I'll study it and decide if it's worth doing.

What do you think of my idea? Is it necessary in your opinion? I have to think it is or it wouldn't be on the upgraded version.

Again thanks for that info.

I don't know where you think you see a standby switch on the SCX2:

I own the amp and do not have a standby switch.

I would say it is unnecessary. The benefit of the standby switch is dubious.

50 years from now, your son will be passing this amp on to his son and telling him, "Boy, this is a fine vintage amp that your grandfather used to play. And it's all original except where somebody drilled this stinkin' hole in it for a standby switch!"

A Superchamp XD??????

It's more likely that 50 months from now, it'll have become landfill fodder at the local city dump.
