Get the product out the door designed to hopefully..............(just) outlast the warranty. And the customer returns for a new guitar and/or amp.

That paradigm didn't work for Detroit (either).

Perhaps it's no coincidence American cars are also made up largely of components made overseas.

That said the DeVille is working fine. I wish it didn't come down to a rinky-dink repair with some freaking tape but hey, it works and will continue to work. I also wish one of the friends of mine I'm fixing these Hot Rod amps for would spring for a upgrade to Sprague caps or something similar so I can form an opinion about JUST how bad the IC caps really are.

My father has a Blues Jr. he modded to BillM's specs with a JBL speaker. Sounds great. Amazing recording amp. These amps are great entry-level tube amps even with all their design issues and poor quality parts. May not be everybody's cup of tea...I certainly demand much more clean headroom out of my amps, but if you tear the ribbon cables out, put in some good caps, quality tubes, new speakers and perform some widely documented mods to the tonestack you will have a great amp. Now, unless you're doing all the work yourself you can just as easily get a second-hand silverface but I digress...
