Hi everybody,

I am new to the forum. I have recently bought a SuperSonic 100 head and run it through 2x12 SuperSonic cab with vintage 30s (I know should probably use the 4x12, but it is too big for me and I won't ever really crank it and also play on the 25 W setting most of the time).

This thing is an unbelievable amp with sooo many options. I am totally impressed by the two clean channels and in my mind they are easy to use and take pedals well.

With all the controls on the burn channel I tend to get a bit lost and I thought it might be a good idea when people here could share their favorite settings, e.g. Assuming a Les paul type guitar:

1) how do you dial in a Santana supernatural type tone?

2) how do you dial in a Gary Moore "Still got the blues" sound

3) a big nice fat bluestone, like Clapton on "Layla"

4) a heavy rock sound (think Europe "final countdown")

5) a "bold riff" sound (e.g. "Money for nothing")

6) a crunchy riff sound (e.g. "Sweet home Alabama")

How do you set the gains, the EQ, the notch, the guitar, which pickups etc? Any other pedals like delay etc?

I know "tone is in the fingers" etc etc ... But I thought it would be useful and fun to share experiences and perhaps also a few soundsamples or youtube links?

I have some (unfinished) ideas on the above tones but thought I first see whether people are interested to join in and share!

Enjoy this great amp everybody!
Cheers,
Frank

I have the 60, not the 100. But I only use the Bassman and Burn channel. Treble about 11, bass about 1. Volume to taste. When using the burn, first gain around 12, second gain around 10. Reverb maybe at 4.

Pedals I use in order...Wah, VS Angry Fuzz, VS Route 66, Boss CE, DeltaLabs DD.

Ok, here are my present settings after fiddling more - please comment, criticise or revise.

Les Paul type guitar. All knobs fully open unless otherwise noted. Settings refer to "o'clock" rather than the actual scale. Bass always adjusted to taste and room - haven't fiddled with the notch yet - so always 12 o'clock here.

1) how do you dial in a Santana supernatural type tone?

G1: 1-3. G2: max. Mids cranked, perhaps 3. Treble roled off at amp or guitar enough to make it smooth without mud. A wah does sound good for that type of thing.

2) how do you dial in a Gary Moore "Still got the blues" sound

Similar, but mids a bit less, maybe 2 o'clock and G2: at perhaps 2-3

3) a big nice fat bluestone, like Clapton on "Layla"

G1:12. G2: 2. treble:12. mids:2

4) a heavy rock sound (think Europe "final countdown")

G1: max, G2: 9, treble, bass:2 mid:9

5) a "bold riff" sound (e.g. "Money for nothing")

G1: 9-11. G2: 3. treble 12 or a bit lower, mids 12-3

6) a crunchy riff sound (e.g. "Sweet home Alabama")

Haven't figured out much here ... But both gains backed up quite a bit. Alternatively the bassman channel with a bit of grit.

All on 12 also gives an awesome rock tone in my mind.

Be curious to hear what you use!

Cheers
Frank
