I want new speakers for my Deville 212, the ones I have the highs are shrill and chords are muddy, no articulation, I want to go with Eminence, I have used them before, just preferred company, but will take suggestions. I play Blues Rock, huge Clapton fan/player, Joe Bonamassa, SRV, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Doyle Bramhall II. I like the classic Fender cleans, real sparkling highs, smooth mids, tight bottom end, and for overdrive, I like a nice bite when I need it. I will post a link of Clapton playing "Crossroads" that is basically the tone I am striving for overdrive/lead tone Thank you for your help

Emi's Texas Heats will likely get the job done.

Hi bigcribber42,

What kind of speakers are in your amp now? They are likely Eminence already, and decent speakers at that, just made specifically for Fender. You might want to try some different preamp tubes first, as this might give you the sound improvement that you are seeking. Specifically, a good 5751 in V1 and a good 12AT7 in V3 (PI) can do wonders for the sound in this amp, leave the 12AX7 in V2. These tubes will warm up the sound quite a bit, and give you much smoother distortion on the drive and more-drive channels. I like the stock Sovteks 12AX7WA for clean sound, and the stock Chinese 12AX7 tubes are pretty good also, but both the Sovteks and Chinese can give you too much gain when used in all three preamp spots. It's just a thought, based on my own experiences with these amps, but trying different preamp tubes is easier and cheaper than new speakers.

Saw the post by Retroverbial when I previewed my own post, and I like the THs myself.

I used to have an HRDv 212 and a retube seriously helps the harsh highs. I found the same thing you did (I though the Bright switch was a laughable concept on that amp). I retubed with JJ's from Eurotubes plus a rebias and it darkened the amp up nicely. The HRDv is an amp that likes JJ's.

As for the speakers, yes they are made by Emi, however they really are the bargain basement line. I'm not experienced enough with Emi's speaker lines to recommend a replacement for that brand, so my only suggestion is Weber.

The Eminence speakers used in the Blues Deluxe/Deville Reissues are from the Legend series, I just forget which one.

In a 2x12, a Cannabis Rex along with a Texas Heat might be interesting. I use a CR in my BDRI and it sounds great. Nice and smooth.

+1 on the JJ tubes along with a proper rebis of the power tubes.

Thanks guys I was debating the speakers you mentioned lol, the Red, White and Blues, and Cannabis Rex, and Texas Heat, I will look into the tubes because I bought it used, it's a 60th Anniversary, and I think everything is stock so they probably need to be changed
