I'm looking for a new, small, inexpensive amp for home use. Thinking of a Frontman 25R or Mustang II v2. I'll mostly use it with my old Mosrite Celebrity III (I've had it for 45 years and yes, it is beautful and plays great) - but occasionally might plug in my Fender DG200SCE Acoustic-Electric Dreadnought. My question is - does anyone have any experence playing an acoustic guitar through either of these amps? Any problems or recommendations? I've not noticed anything when trying them at the store but that's so much different than playing at home in the basement.

Would I be better off buying the Frontman and an inexpensive Acoustasonic at $100 each vs the $200 Mustang?

Or . . . might stretch the budget to $400 and look at the Acoustasonic 100 - which apparently has some minor electronic modeling - more than likely it will be enough for me.

Thought and help appreciated.

Thanks!

Electric guitar amps and acoustic guitar amps are totally different animals and they're not interchangable. Of course you can run an electro-acoustic through a regular amp and you can run an electric guitar through an acoustic amp but neither will sound very good. For stage purposes, most people who have a smaller budgets will simply plug their electro-acoustics straight into the mixing board and bypass the acoustic amp altogether. For now, I would suggest you buy the best sounding electric guitar amp you can afford to play your electric guitar with and then start saving for a decent acoustic amp.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thank for taking the time to offer your advice. Kind of what I thought I should do, but had to ask. I've been out looking at a variety of amps for my electric guitar, ranging from the Mustangs to a Super Champ as well as some Vox amps (sorry, Fender). After I get this squared away I'll start hunting for something for the acoustic. Appreciate your insights.

Thanks for the encouragement/caution to match amps to guitars. Wanted to let you know that I picked up a Super Champ X2 today and am already having a great time rediscovering my electric guitar. Very happy with this little combo amp - think it was really the right decision at this point.
