Hey all... back a few months ago I got this wild hair to change out the stock speakers in my TRRI with Eminence Commonwealths. (What was I thinking... I can barely pick the thing up!) They sound nice but weigh about 25lbs a piece. They don't sound nice enough to compensate for that and I don't have any muscular roadies to move my gear around.

SO... now things are swinging to the other end of the pendulum. I just ordered up an Eminence Lil' Texas and Tonekerlite (one of each). They're Neodymium magnets and weigh just a smidge over 4 pounds a piece... which will shave 40+ lbs off my amp. :) I talked with someone at Eminence and he suggested either speaker for a Fender amp... I opted for one of each because the characteristics of both sounded good to me and I figured they'd meet somewhere in the middle.

Anyone have any experience with these speakers loaded in a TRRI? They're gonna have to sound pretty bad for me to ever go back to lugging a full-weight Twin around!

I've heard Texas Heats in both Twin Reverbs and Bandmasters. They sound pretty tasty and are parsecs ahead of most OEM pie plates. No experience with the Tonkers -- sorry.

Not sure you shouldn't have titled this one "How to Lose 40 Pounds in 20 Minutes" :!: :!:

Congrats to your back.

Your chiropractor prolly won't regard this as a "Hallmark moment" though......

I just put a set of Texas Heats in my TRRI a couple weeks ago. Not broken in at all yet but they sound great! Very fat sounding. Lots of bottom, smooth top end. No ice pick at all.

I had that kind of "oh ****" moment after I changed the speakers in my Bassman LTD. Here I had just traded for it because my SRRI was too heavy. Well, now it weighs about what the SRRI did. Those bigger magnets sound great but come at a price.

Got the new speakers loaded up and they sound pretty good. Best of all, I can move my amp around again. They seem to handle my effects well enough, even the MicroPog which I use to loop "baselines". All in all, no complaints... I'm sure they'll sweeten up with time but for out of the box sound they're good to go. 8)
