I use Normal or Bright. Both are equally usable. And because both channels are in phase (in stock form) then you can jumper the two channels together for some thicker tones.

I do the same. I use a Y-adapter into both channels. I adjust the Normal channel for a soft tone and the Bright channel for, well, a bright tone, and mix them together.

As delivered the B+ on my amp was only about 417vdc. After replacing R59 (18k) with a 68k ohm resistor the B+ rose to 427vdc, and the 60hz hum was slightly reduced. This equated to -49.8vdc on the 6L6 grids. Also the 6L6's should run slightly cooler.

Edit: Increased R59 to 100K ohms.

Disclaimer:
Amplifiers have lethal voltages inside!
Don't work on any amp unless it's 120 volt power is removed and it has had at least 5 minutes to discharge.

"120 hz"

I like that......more ripple for the electrolytics to filter (enhances their self-esteem and sense of purpose).

Fixed it. Actually the full-wave rectified power supply is 120 hz. :)

Hi folks, I got mine in Oct.2013 (new). Here´s the story how I got it.
Initial situation.I was a Boogie-Player since 1988 and I´ve bought every Item of a product-line used it with TC-Rackcomponents. So I know how to dial in to get a good tone. But to protect my back for a slipdisc I wanted to get an singlechannel amp and the max weight 45lbs./20 Kg - max. Power: 40Watts. OD-DIST and everything else should have done by pedals. Fender Cleantone.
Ok-Out in a store there were HRDs, DDRI, SuperSonic22 and other stuff.
And the Winner is: VIBROLUX - by far!!!
57 Strat (Handcarved Tommy´s Special) into the Bright Channel - all pipes to center:
Sparkling clean (Hank Marvin), Treble a little counterclockwise back (Knopfler´s 70´s sound), with a dynamic, that knocks you down.
Les Paul Trad. Warm and mellow - but when you dig in - it spreads out - unbelievable.
THIS AMP DOES NOT LOVE ANY PEDAL!!! But if you spend a bit of research, then you will find also an outstanding OD/DIST-Tone.
Epiphone Joe Pass: Warm Jazztone with these special overtones I guess only 10"- Speakers can produce.
My actual setup is: Vibrolux - MXR Compressor(almost off), Boss SD-1, Wampler SLO-stortion (tricky but outstanding), Fulltone OCD, Marshall Guv´nor Plus, T-Rex Reptile Delay, Boss CE-1 Chorus, all controlled by a Carl Martin Octaswitch.
If I want to sound different - I´ll change my Pedals but the basics sound is there. I don´t need another amp any more.
The Hiss - it´s there and it shows me that it broke down when it stops.
In a LIVE-Situation on stage, you won´t hear it. To all others out there in a studio: use a light gate in the DAW-Channel and the problem is solved. I did it that way and it works.
I will do a Video on you2b. Maybe the language is at first time german because it´s my native speech.
So I hope this was helpful and let me say that I´m still impressed of this Killertonemachine. I am NOT an employee of Fender.
Cheers from Germany
Frank
