Now if a bass sounded like that through it, I'd say keep it. (external speaker of course.)

Can I 'jumper' the three inputs on my Excelsior (plug cable from instrument to first input; patch cable from second to third input)? I know I can do it with a two-channel amp, but can I do it with the one-channel Excelsior?

Jumpering the inputs on your Excelsior would be no different than simply plugging into each input separately, all you are doing is selecting a different input impedance when plugging into each jack.
