Any help with thoughts on the value?

Modifications to any piece of gear actually tend to work against you in terms of resale value, in addition to the money that you put in to mods. The thought process being that ones percieved 'improvements' may not be agreeable to the next guy.

Pictures would obviously help. Going on what information you've provided I certainly wouldn't expect a higher return than had you left the amp stock.

I wouldn't. The money, time and effort put in to the amp keep setting you further and further behind. I'm not trying to take away from the amp - I'm sure it sounds great. At the end of the day it still is what is it: some fellows' frankenstein Blues Jr.

I had exactly the same experience. I did a bunch of BillM mods to my Blues Junior. When I wanted to sell the amp I was not able to sell it even though I reduced my price several times. I ended up practically giving it away.

That's something that people fail to consider when they start slicing and dicing their amps. It can be a rude awakening.

This is a lot like modded hot rod cars - your taste in what you ended up with isn't always what someone else wants, and usually you'll never get back what you invested in it.

Most people like the Blues Jr. because it's an EL84 amp and the sound you get from it. This is now some sort of 6L6 amp which there's no reference for sound or build quality.

No offense, but there's also no way of knowing how well these very large changes/mods were done - I've seen a lot of hack work, so that adds a "distrust discount" unless you can provide the paperwork for it being done at a reputable shop.

Seeing the pics doesn't help at all - I see a blue light, a cab, and a lot of work to take something that people like and turn it into something you like.

Well-produced youtube videos with a decent mic (not the iphone mic) and pictures showing the build quality may help, but given a stock Blues Jr. new is $500, unfortunately I'd be surprised if you got $400 for this, and most likely less. Not trying to be harsh, but help to set your expectations.

Nice looking amp.

However, none of the changes you made are particularly difficult or unique. I have to agree with the others. You might find someone who is dying for an amp like this, or you might not. I doubt you will get much for it.

I have modified and built several amps (all documented in this forum). I do it for fun and my own enjoyment, not with the expectations of making a profit.

+1

Ebay and C/L are filled with mutants such as these -- I doubt seriously that any of the sellers saw a profit whatsoever.

That's just the way it is.

The thing to remember is that when you mod an amp it usuall only works for you. Most people if they mod an amp do it to help their own tone and playing style. Modded amps are of no use to me. Looks like you did a nice job, but I wouldn't want it. Usually modding an amp, effect or guitar destroys its resale value.

That's OK, he started two identical threads, so maybe the other thread will get some responses more to his liking.
