Thanks for the advice. As you can tell from my posts I am still pondering the possibilities and options. The people that have already been down this road shorten the learning curve and avoid costly mistakes. Thanks again.

I agree with the videos. All the youtube stuff is not what its cracked up to be. I was only trying to let the forum get a better idea of the tone that I experience from my own set up. And to also get to a new place. I agree---everything matters when it comes to sound, tone and acoustics.

Take care!!

There is another member by the name of C.A Feathers, goes by Chet too. He has a Blues Jr in a beautiful wood cabinet that is larger than a standard Bjr cab. From what I understand it sounds incredible. That would be my first move before doing any serious mods. That amp will sound fine if you do that and it won't void a warranty if you have one, like the BillM mods do. You have to be very careful with the boards when modding these things because you can lift the traces pretty easily. I think Chet uses a Tone Tubby speaker in his cab if I remember correctly. You can do a forum search to find him. He posted photos of it lots of times. The most costly thing would be to hack a mod. Some guys make a cottage industry out of selling mods for these amps. If you like the way it sounds stick with it. IMHO tube and speaker changes in that small cab wouldn't be worth the time or cash involved and the results would just be marginal. I know lots of musicians who did the modding route only to get minimal results after spending hundreds of dollars. Some people even put Mercury Magnetic transformers in them at a cost of around three hundred bucks. Makes no sense to me, but I'm not going to tell anyone how to spend their money, especially if it makes them happy.

I think Chet's conversion is actually a 2 x 12 configuration (16-ohm speakers, wired in parallel).
