I have the opportunity to purchace a well taken care of Fender Stage 160 (2-channel/pre-dsp) for $200. Anyone familiar with this amp? Any thoughts? I trust the seller (an old friend who babys his gear) and think the price is fair. Just trying to get some feedback from you all while I mull it over.

Bill, Looks like you got more response over at AGF on this one. I have the DSP version of this amp. It was a European bound amp that just never made it across the pond. A little swapping of the transformer wiring and I have an amp fit for the home market. I love mine. The DSP isn't used much as I have a pedal board for it. It is very loud when you want it loud and still usable as a bedroom practice amp. For $200 I wouldn't say that it's a deal but a respectful price just the same. If the non DSP is as good as my DSP model you will enjoy it. That is, if you are okay with a solid state amp. (Some people prefer tube amps.)

LOL, thanks Bob. The responses are few on this one for sure but I did think I'd get more info here that at AGF. Anyway, thanks for your input. I am deffinately not averse to SS amps. In fact, I have never owned a tube amp. I kicked around the idea of getting one after recently getting back into a band but for me SS just workd better for me. I don't want the hassle of replacing/biasing tubes or the worry that the tubes might break while bouncing around in the car, etc. My main rig at the moment is a Fender Mustang Floor thru a FRFR powered speaker and I am trying to decide what to get as a back-up/leave at the rehearsal space amp. It's between this Fender Stage 160 and a Fender Mustang III v.1. Thanks again for your advice!

I love these amps I have three stage 160 amps they killer balls. They first had just the stage 160 and they had the stage 160 DSP which I don't like as much with all the junk on them. The price is fair but not a steal. If you do get it make sure the footswitch with it at that price the dsp pedals are a 4 switch and are not real cheap
