I have little experience in modifying amps. The only thing that I've done is a bunch of billm mods to my blues junior. Prior to that, I had an issue with my HRD 410 and sent it to a "professional." This "professional" was too lazy to remove the knobs and he replaced a 22UF 500V cap on the front side by soldering wires that he twisted together in mid-air.

Now that I have the amp apart and have replaced a few pots, I'm thinking about any mods that I could do. Perhaps this just means replacing all of the caps. Has anyone had success in modding a HRD? If so, what mods did you perform?

What isn't your amp doing that you think some nebulous mods will correct?

Better to do less mod but better job . This " proffessional " is a butcher ? Why don't you see a real good tech.

Or you said to this "professional" you don't want to pay for a job well done ?

The way I modded my HRDlx was to get rid of it. I wasn't about to try and polish my tone turd. I just cut my losses after numerous repairs, and tube and bias changes. It had to go. Now I have four great sounding amps but sadly, only one is a Fender. All the problems I had with the HRDlx left a really bad taste in my mouth. Sad because I used mostly Fender amps for 40 years and because I was a dumbass for selling my old ones.
