Can somebody help me to clearify if the fx loop on the super sonic 60-head is in series or parallel? I'm struggling with a lot of leakage of the dry signal slipping through when putting my Tc electronic G-system into the loop. This suggests it could be parallel but to me the schematics looks like its series.

Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Jazzmads,

Unless the schematic is lying, it is series.

Thanx.
So it is series but with a lot of "bleeding" through of the dry signal.
Does anybody know if it's possible to mod the amp somehow so the fx loop becomes a 100 % series instead of 80-90%?

What do you mean, the dry signal is bleeding through? In this case, I would think that the dry signal would have to be bleeding through the effects themselves, not the amp.

One way to tell if it's the amp, disconnect effects unit, insert a dummy phone plug into the Power Amp In on the amp, with nothing plugged into the Preamp Out, guitar plugged into the amp input, turn up the amp volume, strum the guitar and see if you get any sound out. A dummy plug is one that has no wires connected to it, an empty plug.

What kind of playing do you do; are you a regular giggin' player?

I'm looking to replace my HR DeVille 60w with one of the Super-Sonic heads. My DeVille is just too loud for club work anymore and I refuse to use pedals.
I'm scared the 22w will be too small (even though it'll be mic'd) and the 60w will be too much. However; I understand that the Hot Rod DeVille is a substantially louder 60w than other amps rated at the same output.
Unfair question, sorry, but who better to ask than actual SS owners.

My local SAsh and GC don't stock any of the 3. What can yo tell me?

Gotta love these thread hi-jacks.

Here is my answer I posted in your duplicate thread in teh Lounge:

Hmmmm. Is one 60 watt tube amp louder than another 60 watt tube amp? Let me think about that for a second.

Ok. The answer is: maybe.

In this case the sensitivity of the speakers used with each amp will have the greatest effect on which one is louder. Your best bet would be to try them side by side and see, or hear for yourself.

Hi JazzMads

There is no way the dry signal should be coming through with the effects loop on ,as it has a physical relay contact which disconnects PRE-FX loop and connects to the POST-FX loop signal chain. Iether your amp has a real strange fault (like an insect shorting across the PRE/POST signal tracks) or the problem lies with your FX-LOOP pedals/rig. Do as Shimmi suggested and let us know what you find.
