 Has anyone replaced the cardboard flooring in the reverb tank with, lets say plywood or other wood of the same thickness? If so, any difference in resonance etc. ?

Hello Ijopod,

I read about some sort of bag available for
reverb tanks but don't have a clue as to
what they were getting at. Food for thought.

Cheers.

Those tanks usually come with the cardboard plus the vinyl bag (fender anyway), I don't think you have to have either one really. A little bird told me one time that the tank sounds better without even being in the bag. I tried this but it doesn't sound any different to me (Hot Rod DeVille 410). I've tried it out of the bag, upside down, on it's side and any other way you could possibly think of, sounds the same no matter what you do to it. Friggin' bird lied to me.

There's only one sound that I know of that's totally different, and that's when you rock your amp back and forth and get a real loud springy sounding pop noise, but that's good for nothing, hehehe.

Hello Ijopod and Guitar_Hurricane,

I've been experimenting with tank positioning
and like you hurricane and have come to the
same conclusion that it sounds the same.

I didn't have a bag to experiment with.

Cheers.

 Thanks for the reply guys. The cardboard in my DRRI is kind of bent out of shape, that is why I am replacing it. However, I do recall reading on some other forum that someone replaced it with plywood and swore it made a huge difference. Can't track the site down now and don't remember where I read it. I think I will go with the cardboard since its the quickest fix and your feedback.
