Bill,

Great job! Also, great way to heal the foot. Time flies by much faster -- -when the mind is occupied. :D

Snubber caps on the switches is a very good idea. Also, works well on solid-state rectifier diodes hash. Though, I've been using ultra-fast puppies for the lat ten years. And old US made ones. Such as NOS Fairchild or General Semiconductors are pretty darn quiet without the snubbers.

I get teh strong feeling you are going to have one very nice tone-master.

Keep up the nice work!

Thanks. :D

Took today off for a doctor's appointment to deal with a problem with my neck that is being aggravated by the way I have to sit at the computer with my foot up. Involved a couple of injections in my neck which is a litle uncomfortable, so I won't be doing any major work today. I might work on labeling the front panel a little later, though.

Following my doctor's appointment today, I didn't want to do anything risky like powering up the amp for the first time, so I just worked on the front panel.

I mentioned previously that after two tries Weber sent the correct panel, but in the wrong color. Here is the panel side in gold. Too Marshally. Plus, I am not using a master or the low input jack. The two small holes to the right of the input jacks are the ones I drilled for the bright and gain switches.

Image

The backside of the front panel is black, so after drilling the holes for the switches, I buffed it up a little but kept it slightly matt. I lettered it with dry transfer lettering but decided to keep it simple, using various size letters for the controls as they went from left to right. I think the white chicken heads look good plus the amp cab has white piping. The stock knobs were Marshall type to go with the gold panel. The small hole next to the standby switch is for the indicator light. The master hole and low gain input hole will be filled with black plastic plugs.

The back panel at least, was correct.

So far, things are going well and the countdown continues so this coming weekend should be "blast off".

Stay tuned. :D

Oh, almost forgot. I ordered my nameplates today. Takes about 2 weeks for them to come. This amp, in keeping with the real Trainwrecks, will be called "Debbie". :D

Here is the proof for the plaque I am having made for the back panel:

Made from polished, coated brass. Front plate will be my standard "BLUESKY AMPS" as seen on my 5F6A clone.

where are you having your plate made? I'm looking at Amplates.com to do possibly a plexi style reverse engraved one for my Bogen Challenger... the brass may be a better look.

thanks!

http://www.plaquemaker.com/

But they only do sign type plates for plaques, awards, outdoor signs, etc. They don't do amp faceplates.

That's pretty cool Bill. They even do memorials just in case something goes horribly wrong and somebody gets electrocuted.

Seriously, I'd like to get one with my family's coat of arms to tack to my amp.

Take a look at their site. They have a lot of options and are easy to work with.
