Just purchased a brand new PRRI. Looking inside the cabinet from the rear I noticed a lot of sticky stuff on both left and right sides of the speaker baffle (where the baffle is screwed into the cabinet from the rear); appears to be both sprayed-on glue and some kind of spackle/putty. Also the baffle itself has a few small gouges in it.

Is this normal? I have an older '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue and it does not have any glue or putty on the rear of the baffle (and the baffle on the DRRI looks like is it pine - or least plywood because you can see the wood grain - not MDF/particleboard like the PRRI).

I would post photos but not sure how.

Thanks for any input.

Many PRRI's were returned to dealers due to customer-reported problems of cabinet "buzz". It's possible that Fender is now gluing and caulking the baffle board to the cleats (in addition to the customary screws) in an effort to rectify the issue.

IMO the Princeton is pricey enough to warrant a plywood cab & baffle. I gave it a miss for that reason & bought a DRRI instead.
