Im needing to replace the factory speaker in my hrdlxe on a budget. I found a celestion
Rocket 50, 50 watt 8 ohm speaker but im not sure if its compatible, reliable, or if it will sound ok till i have $ to upgrade. Would appreciate any advice.

I think you'd be happier with a Vintage 30 if Celestion is your choice. Be advised, all Celestions mount to the baffle board using four screws only. If your HRDlx has eight, you'll need to remove four of them.

Im sure the vintage 30 is a excellent speaker but its out of my price range right now, was looking for a temporary fix to get me by till ive got the jake for a really good replacement. I forgot to mention i run thru a mustang floor, dont know if that will make a difference in my speaker choice. Thanks

I have one of these in a separate open back cab that I run my modified Champion 600 through. It really is a decent sounding speaker for the price. I am considering putting four of them in a 4x12 cab that I have for an amp head that I will be building soon.

Did you mean you had a celestion rocket 50 or a vintage 30 in your open back cab?

For the money, its a pretty nice little speaker. It came in a closed back Raven cab that I picked up at my local GC for cheap. The bass was too much with the back totally closed, even with the little Champion 600, so I cut the bottom 1/3 off the back panel and it sounds great. Really makes the Champion 600 sing. :D

That's the only Celestion I have experience with. I would love to populate the 4x12 cab with Vintage 30's like Arjay recommends but I don't have that kind of money.

The Celestion G12P-80 is the speaker that comes in the HRDlx III. So, it might be a good choice to replace his. Unless he doesn't like the sound of the stock speaker.
