Hi Bill

Before you buy another ABY I would suggest spending the time to dismantle the pedal and trying to replace that resistor and capacitor.

I intend to. In fact, I pickup up the cap yesterday. :D

Changing the cap made no difference.

Between the pop and the fact that the output drops 3dB when using the switch, I decided to order the Bones™ Twin-City ABY amp switcher.

I have this as well on my pedalboard, and since it's always been there, the gain drop hasn't been an issue. I haven't experienced the pop, but the relay switching on the powered Switchbone should get rid of the issue for you.

I love this pedal. Once you've been able to switch amps or have both on at the same time, it's very hard to go back.

Bill,
Is the rc net across the tranny's primary? (phasing as well as tuning the primary for best amplitude and signal clarity over the freq range it typically the reason for that circuit)...

TYPICALLY (not always) pops are caused by DC...have you put a scope (dc coupled) on the outputs of the switch (two trace montior both outputs at the same time) and had a look - se a jump anywhere when switching then track it.

Signal chain perhaps before the switch - you have DC somewhere..IMHO and it should be fairly easy to track down if you can "see" the pop occur when switching

"Luke's" tech must have figured it out- Bradshaw?? -Chaz??? (lurkers)

DC pops like that can fry tweeters (sometime midrange transducers)..

just occured to me...what is the grounding scheme of the box...star? or just scatterd all over the chassis...DC bounce can be caused by that crap also..

The Radial Bones™ Twin-City ABY amp switcher arrived today. Gotta admit, it is a nice upgrade over the Bigshot ABY. Dead quiet switching and high quality buffer keeps you from losing tone. The Drag control is less useful since I have a Boss FRV-1 reverb pedal in front of the switcher (the Drag control is designed for use with the guitar plugged directly into the switch or with all true bypass pedals in front of the switch), but you can still hear the effect of adjusting it.

I'm much happier now. :D

Glad it all worked out there bluesky636. I know that analytical side of you was just not going to let this issue go unresolved!

You guys are killing me. I had no interest in using multiple amps until I read this.
I like building my own stuff so after reading this thread, I decided to build one of these
http://buildyourownclone.com/ampselector.html

I plan on using it with my Egnater Rebel 20 and my Tweed Deluxe clone or maybe use it to jumper channels on the Tweed. I think it will be a tone tweaking overdose! If you don't hear from me for a while, you'll know what I'll be up to.

The BYOC switcher looks like it should be a fine addition to my gear collection. From what I hear, it's real quiet and buffered. I can't imagine running my Tweed and Rebel at the same time.

I used to run a Sunn Scepter and my Twin together years ago, but not switching, just for sheer power. That's why my ears ring so bad today.

Once built, you won't go back. :D

Other great use is on a 2 channel fender to have a lead boost by plugging into either channel.
