My amp has a very loud hum and crackles and pops when trying to adjust levels. Can I clean the pots to fix this or will I need to take it in for service?
I've been disabled and unable to work for nearly a year now so I need to fix it myself if I can. It's a 112 Deluxe Plus solid state. It really doesn't have that many hours on it. Can anyone give me some solid advice?

The crackle and pop when adjusting volume could be dirty pots. The loud hum though is indicative of something deeper. Could be something as simple as a cold solder joint or more involved. If you are electronically savy then you might venture a try but beware, current kills! If you are not experienced with electronic repairs then by all means please take it to a qualified repair person. Did you buy the amp new? If so it very well may be under warranty still.

The amp is more than 5 years old so warranty is not an option. What would you reccommend to clean the pots?

Top Tip: If your amp has wheels, DO NOT sit on top and ride around.
